TROPIC GOLD Releases “sodium” Ahead of October UK Headline Tour

UK alternative metal band TROPIC GOLD has released a new single, “sodium,” continuing a run of heavier material ahead of its first headline dates this fall.

The South East England trio’s latest track is its second release through BLKIIBLK, the metal and hard-rock imprint operated by Frontiers Label Group. “sodium” follows June single “WITCH HOUSE,” featuring Harpy.

Built around the collision of metalcore, industrial textures and electronic production, “sodium” explores the pull between attraction and self-destruction. The band uses the chemical element itself as part of the song’s imagery, connecting sodium with tears, sweat and the physical residue of emotionally exhausting situations.

At the center of the track is a question of acceptance — whether another person can embrace the parts of someone that are harder to control, hide or explain.

TROPIC GOLD described the song as being about two forces continuing to move toward one another despite knowing the relationship may be destructive.

The new single arrives as the band continues to sharpen the more aggressive direction that followed its SICK TO DEATH OF EVERYTHING EP. TROPIC GOLD combines heavy guitar work and abrasive electronics with larger melodic hooks, placing the band between modern alternative metal, metalcore and industrial-influenced rock.

That progression has already brought growing attention in the UK. TROPIC GOLD has received support from BBC Radio 1, Kerrang! and Rock Sound, while previous touring has included runs alongside WARGASM, RESOLVE, WINDWAKER and NORMANDIE.

The band also appeared at Download Festival and headlined a stage at 2000trees Festival during the summer, extending its profile beyond the underground alternative scene.

TROPIC GOLD will take the new material on the road beginning Oct. 15 with a three-date UK headline run before returning to Sheffield in November for Novocaine Festival.

Oct. 16 — Manchester — The Deaf Institute
