THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT Reworks LED ZEPPELIN Classic “Immigrant Song”

THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT has released a new version of LED ZEPPELIN’s “Immigrant Song,” continuing the collaboration between STONE SOUR guitarist Josh Rand and PARALANDRA vocalist Casandra Carson.

The new recording is out now through Frontiers Music Srl and follows the project’s previous reinterpretation of BLONDIE’s “Call Me.” Like that release, “Immigrant Song” was never originally intended to become an official single.

Rand said the foundation for the track dates back to 2019, when he was experimenting with vintage equipment after moving into a new home studio.

“Really, the music was all put together with me just messing around with the vintage gear I had,” Rand said. “Once I started working with Casandra, I asked her if she wanted to take a shot at this for the fun of it.”

For Carson, the song carries a considerably longer history.

She traces her first memory of hearing “Immigrant Song” to an unlikely source: Shrek the Third. The film’s use of the song sent her looking for the original LED ZEPPELIN recording, which quickly became one of the tracks she hoped to perform herself someday.

“The second I heard Snow White sing that Viking war cry, my soul and my senses lit up like I’d been struck by lightning,” Carson said. “My dad told me it was a song by Led Zeppelin, and I became as obsessed as a kid who just tried chocolate for the first time.”

Years later, that connection came full circle when Carson began working with Rand and suggested the song as a possible cover.

THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT began taking shape in 2020 after a mutual contact introduced Rand and Carson. Rand had already been considering the idea of building a female-fronted project, and the initial collaboration developed into an ongoing partnership.

Musically, the project combines Rand’s heavy riffing and melodic instincts with Carson’s broader vocal range, drawing from classic metal, thrash and progressive influences while retaining a modern hard-rock foundation.

The project has also moved beyond conventional rock subject matter, with material addressing historical events, social tensions, empowerment and resistance.

THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT consists of Carson on vocals and Rand on guitar.
