SLEEPYTOWN SETS OCT. 10 RELEASE FOR 10 GREAT DRINKING SONGS

Swedish rock band SLEEPYTOWN will release its new album, 10 Great Drinking Songs, Oct. 10 through BlackValley Records.
The record finds SLEEPYTOWN planted firmly in deliberately old-fashioned rock territory, mixing Scandinavian barroom rock with North Sea heartland influences and what the band describes as “rainy-day drinking music.”
Rather than chasing a contemporary sound, the band approached its fourth album with few expectations beyond making the kind of record its members wanted to hear.
“Who else is interested in hopelessly old-fashioned dad rock about driving around and drinking booze?” the band’s Mats joked in announcing the release. “But by a happy accident, the songs turned out really good.”
10 Great Drinking Songs has already produced two singles. SLEEPYTOWN introduced the album in August with “If the Brown Shirt Fits,” followed in September by “Ethanol (Every Time You Call).”
The new record follows three previous SLEEPYTOWN albums and continues the band’s straightforward rock approach, built around driving songs, drinking songs and an intentionally unfashionable affection for traditional rock ’n’ roll.
The material also serves as the foundation for SLEEPYTOWN’s live shows, where the band says its songs typically become louder, rougher and considerably messier than their studio counterparts.
10 Great Drinking Songs arrives Oct. 10 via BlackValley Records.
