ORBIT CULTURE Opens Up About Burnout, Rejection and Its Rise in New Documentary

ORBIT CULTURE is pulling back the curtain on its 13-year history in a new documentary chronicling the Swedish metal band's path from a small-town project to an international touring act.

“How Orbit Culture Became A Metal Giant” is the latest installment of Scream Dudes’ OFFSTAGE documentary series and follows ORBIT CULTURE through a day at Germany’s Summer Breeze festival in 2026.

Rather than focusing exclusively on the performance, the documentary follows the band backstage, onto its tour bus and through the hours surrounding the show.

Frontman Niklas Karlsson also looks back at the less visible parts of ORBIT CULTURE’s rise, including lineup changes, burnout, unsuccessful attempts to attract label interest and a 3 a.m. text that proved pivotal to the band's career.

The film is the first documentary centered on ORBIT CULTURE.

Scream Dudes is the project of Eric and Julius, who have built an audience around metal vocal content and interviews with musicians about their screaming techniques. Previous guests have included members of MACHINE HEAD and GUTALAX as well as Alissa White-Gluz.

OFFSTAGE expands that concept into longer-form documentaries built around access to artists away from the stage.

The documentary arrives as ORBIT CULTURE prepares to release the deluxe edition of Death Above Life on Oct. 9. The expanded release includes four additional tracks, while its physical vinyl and 2CD editions include a 40-page booklet featuring live and behind-the-scenes photography from the band's archives.

ORBIT CULTURE will then return to the road, first joining AMON AMARTH and SOILWORK in Europe before heading to North America with TRIVIUM, IN FLAMES and FROZEN SOUL.

The North American leg begins Nov. 20 in Royal Oak, Michigan, and continues through Dec. 19 in Charlotte, North Carolina, with stops including Chicago, Nashville, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seattle, Denver and Pittsburgh.
