Swedish hard-rock band OLD MAN’S WILL will release its third full-length album, At Last, Oct. 9 through Small Stone Recordings, ending a lengthy period of disruption and rebuilding for the Umeå-based group.

Rooted in blues-heavy 1970s hard rock, OLD MAN’S WILL draws from the same broad tradition as DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN and HUMBLE PIE, but At Last finds the band pulling back from sheer heaviness in favor of more space, groove and melodic detail.

The album represents a second wind for a band whose path had been anything but straightforward.

OLD MAN’S WILL began after guitarist Klas Holmgren, drummer Gustav Kejving and bassist Tommy Nilsson left home for college in 2011. What initially looked like a reason to step away from music instead became the foundation for a new band, completed by vocalist Benny Åberg. Early momentum brought European touring and record deals on both sides of the Atlantic, but delays surrounding the group’s second album led to canceled tours and a loss of momentum before the pandemic created another major interruption.

The next phase arrived with drummer Simon Lundin and bassist Michael Åberg joining the lineup. A renewed focus on live performance — including a run that featured an opening slot for GRAVEYARD — helped push OLD MAN’S WILL back toward the studio and ultimately toward At Last.

The new record retains the guitar-centered foundation of the band’s earlier work but gives the songs greater room to develop through dynamics, melody and rhythm. Rather than relying exclusively on distorted weight, OLD MAN’S WILL allows the groove and atmosphere to carry more of the record’s impact.

That shift gives At Last a broader range than its predecessors. The album moves between blues-rock passages, heavier riff-driven material and more melodic sections without abandoning the band’s established identity.

The eight-track record was recorded across Studio Spiff, Mullberget and Ultraljud Studios. Anthon Johansson engineered the sessions, Sven Dahlquist provided additional amplification work, Frans Hägglund mixed the album at Riddarborgen Studios and Magnus Lindberg mastered it at The Vilhelm Room in Stockholm.
