MIKE MOSTERT Teams With ERIC GALES for New Single “Fire”

Guitarist and producer Mike Mostert has launched his next solo chapter with some serious six-string firepower, teaming with two-time Grammy winner Eric Gales on the new single “Fire.”
Released Sept. 25 through Deko Entertainment, the track serves as the first preview of Mostert’s forthcoming solo album, a record shaped by the experience of caring for both of his parents as they approached the end of their lives.
Rather than bringing Gales aboard for a conventional guest solo, Mostert built “Fire” around an ongoing exchange between the two guitarists. The pair trade melodic lines, blues-inflected phrases and heavier tones across the track, making their interaction central to the arrangement.
“Great rendition of ‘Fire’ that I was glad to be a part of by my guy Mike Mostert,” Gales said. “It’s actually FIRE!! Great job.”
Mostert, also known for his work with IN THEORY, produced the single and assembled a veteran backing lineup for the session.
Alessandro Del Vecchio handles keyboards, with BLACKBERRY SMOKE drummer Kent Aberle behind the kit and Colin Lott on bass. Del Vecchio’s extensive production and songwriting résumé includes work connected to members of DEEP PURPLE, JOURNEY, TOTO and WHITESNAKE.
The recording also carries some Muscle Shoals pedigree. “Fire” was tracked at East Avalon Recorders in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, with Charles Holloman engineering. Benjy Johnson contributed additional engineering from Earthtones Studios in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mastering was handled by Howie Weinberg, whose career has included work with a long list of major rock and metal artists.
The forthcoming album will move Mostert into more personal territory than his previous work, drawing directly from the emotional weight of caring for his parents while also putting guitar-driven songwriting at the center of the project.
“Fire” is available now through Deko Entertainment.
