Brazilian progressive metal band MAESTRICK has opened a new chapter with “Zion,” its first single from a newly configured lineup and the first glimpse of a new album expected in 2027.

Released through Frontiers Music Srl, “Zion” pushes MAESTRICK toward a more cinematic and contemporary sound while retaining the progressive foundation that has defined the band for two decades.
The track brings the band’s symphonic side forward, with MAESTRICK citing film composers Hans Zimmer and Gustav Holst among its inspirations. Electronic and atmospheric elements expand the palette further, drawing from the modern approaches of MUSE, VOLA, SPIRITBOX and BAD OMENS.
“‘Zion’ marks the beginning of a new chapter for MAESTRICK,” the band said. “We have a new lineup, renewed energy, and a real sense of excitement about what lies ahead. We’re grateful for everything we’ve created so far, but this song takes us into new territory — and we can’t wait to explore it.”
Formed in São José do Rio Preto, Brazil, in 2006, MAESTRICK has developed its progressive metal around an unusually broad collection of influences, incorporating Brazilian regional music, classical music and world music alongside rock and metal. The band also draws heavily from cinema, literature and visual art in constructing its music and concepts.
Its 2018 album Espresso Della Vita: Solare earned an 86/100 rating from Japanese music magazine BURRN! and helped propel MAESTRICK to a European tour encompassing Switzerland, Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic.
The band returned in 2025 with Espresso Della Vita: Lunare, continuing its genre-blurring progressive approach.
“Zion,” however, is positioned as the beginning rather than the culmination of another cycle. MAESTRICK says the single introduces a renewed lineup and a broader sonic direction that will carry into its next full-length album, currently scheduled for 2027.
“Zion” is available now via Frontiers Music Srl, with an official music video also released alongside the single.
