German folk-metal band FEUERSCHWANZ has joined forces with fellow medieval-rock veteran IN EXTREMO for the new single “Carpe Noctem.”
The collaboration arrives ahead of the two bands’ 2027 co-headlining Heute wird der Himmel brennen tour, which will take them through eight German cities in April and May.
“Carpe Noctem” brings elements of both bands together for an anthem built around embracing the night, freedom and living in the moment. An official music video accompanies the release.
FEUERSCHWANZ traces the song’s nocturnal imagery back to Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
“‘Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make.’ That is how Count Dracula spoke in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel,” FEUERSCHWANZ said. “In our journey into the nocturnal world of the walking undead, ‘the children of the night’ become ‘the warriors of the night,’ and we are joined by the fine company of IN EXTREMO!”
The collaboration also has particular significance given the two bands’ connections to Germany’s medieval-rock scene.
“As a band that emerged from the German medieval rock scene, this is a true accolade, and we are looking forward to howling at the full moon every night on the joint tour,” FEUERSCHWANZ said. “Because it is only at night that we are free — CARPE NOCTEM.”
Before joining IN EXTREMO on the road, FEUERSCHWANZ will stage METFEST 2026 at Grugahalle in Essen on Dec. 19 with BROTHERS OF METAL and Melissa Bonny.
FEUERSCHWANZ enters the next touring cycle following a run that has included consecutive No. 1 appearances on Germany’s official album chart with Memento Mori and Fegefeuer. Its latest studio album, Knightclub, continued the band's expansion beyond its folk-metal roots.
The Heute wird der Himmel brennen tour launches April 16 at Swiss Life Hall in Hanover and includes stops in Berlin, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Erfurt before concluding May 1 at Zenith in Munich. RAGNARÖK will appear as support.
