COMEBACK KID Teams With INCENDIARY’s Brendan Garrone on “Yesterday’s Gone”
Canadian hardcore veteran COMEBACK KID has released “Yesterday’s Gone,” a new single featuring INCENDIARY vocalist Brendan Garrone.
The track is the latest preview of COMEBACK KID’s eighth studio album, Chosen Hell, arriving Nov. 6 through SharpTone Records in the U.S. and Dine Alone Records in Canada. It follows the previously released title track.
“Yesterday’s Gone” leans into the melodic side of COMEBACK KID’s sound before driving into a heavy breakdown, with Garrone providing one of only two guest appearances on the upcoming record.
“We wanted to play to our strengths on ‘Yesterday’s Gone’ by establishing our melodic signature sound with aggressive upbeat hardcore, and a pummeling breakdown to tie it all up,” vocalist Andrew Neufeld said.
Neufeld said the song went through several rewrites, with ideas originally developed for different songs ultimately combined into the finished track. Lyrically, the song deals with leaving the past behind rather than allowing it to remain a burden.
Producer Will Putney also played a role in shaping the track. COMEBACK KID recorded Chosen Hell with Putney at Graphic Nature Audio in New Jersey.
Garrone is one of two outside vocalists appearing on the 11-song album. SPIRITBOX vocalist Courtney LaPlante guests on “Shedding Season.”
Neufeld described the making of Chosen Hell as a more collaborative process than previous COMEBACK KID records, with greater input from the other members of the band.
The album features Neufeld alongside guitarists Jeremy Hiebert and Stu Ross, bassist Chase Brenneman and drummer Terrance Pettitt.
COMEBACK KID will also hit the road following the album’s release, beginning Nov. 7 at Flyover Fest in Oklahoma City. The November run includes stops in Texas, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah and Colorado, with DEAD HEAT appearing throughout much of the tour and DEFEATER and THE WARRIORS joining selected dates.
Additional U.S., Canadian, European and UK dates are expected to be announced.
