BLIND CHANNEL Recruits OF MICE & MEN’s Aaron Pauley for “Into The Void”

Finnish modern metal band BLIND CHANNEL has teamed with OF MICE & MEN vocalist and bassist Aaron Pauley for “Into The Void,” the final standalone single ahead of the band’s upcoming sixth album, Painstream.

The album arrives Oct. 30 through Century Media, with “Into The Void” serving as its fourth track.

For the new song, BLIND CHANNEL looks considerably farther than the usual sources of lyrical inspiration. “Into The Void” draws from the Fermi Paradox — the apparent contradiction between the likelihood that extraterrestrial civilizations should exist and humanity’s lack of evidence for them — along with the mysterious Wow! signal detected in 1977.

BLIND CHANNEL turns that cosmic question back toward Earth: If intelligent life really is extraordinarily rare, humanity bears considerably more responsibility for keeping its own planet habitable.

“‘Into The Void’ is our final standalone single from the upcoming Painstream album before the whole thing drops,” BLIND CHANNEL said. “The song was inspired by the Fermi Paradox and the Wow! signal. If Earth really is the only place in the universe where life exists, we’re not exactly doing a great job of sustaining it.”

Pauley joins the band vocally on the track, adding another layer of aggression to the song.

“Aaron from OF MICE & MEN jumped aboard for this one and made sure the mosh pits will suck people in like black holes,” BLIND CHANNEL said.

Pauley called the collaboration “an absolute banger,” adding that he had fun working on the track and was excited for listeners to hear it.

Painstream marks BLIND CHANNEL’s return following a year-and-a-half period of deliberate inactivity. The 12-song record also includes previously released tracks “Stars We See,” “Diana” and “No Encores In A Swan Song.”

The band will support the album with live dates beginning Nov. 14 at Helsinki Ice Hall in Finland, followed by November shows in Tokyo and Osaka. An extensive European and UK headline run begins Feb. 9 in Hamburg, Germany, and continues into March.
