Swedish rock veteran MATTI ALFONZETTI is heading back to the sound that shaped him on Going For The Kill, a new studio album arriving Dec. 11 through Frontiers Music Srl. The first single, “Runaway,” is out now alongside an official music video.

Rather than reinventing his sound, ALFONZETTI is deliberately leaning into the melodic rock and AOR of the 1970s and ’80s.

“Going For The Kill is my way of paying tribute to 70s and 80s AOR rock which I grew up with,” Alfonzetti said. “I think any fan of that era will understand what this release is about.”

“Runaway” provides the first taste of that direction, pairing a classic-rock foundation with the polished melodic approach that has defined much of Alfonzetti’s career.

“Very much classic rock, and a favourite of mine,” he said of the track. “I think it sets the mood for the whole album. It’s pure Alfonzetti!”

ALFONZETTI handles considerably more than vocals on the record, performing lead and backing vocals, bass, rhythm guitar and keyboards. The album also features Staffan Brodén on drums and Martin Jepsen Andersen on lead guitar, with Dante Alfonzetti contributing bass to the title track and “When The Gods Play Rock n’ Roll.”

The album arrives more than four decades into a career that began with BAM BAM BOYS in the 1980s. Alfonzetti subsequently fronted JAGGED EDGE and SKINTRADE and released solo albums including Ready and Machine. His résumé also includes work with IMPERA, RED WHITE & BLUES and ROAD TO RUIN.
